Weekend Whip Around: Round 8

Back to back good weeks for Nonno and THEN…break…yuck. I swear the older I get the longer these breaks feel. Breaks over though! We’re back. So once again let’s fire up the flux capacitor, charge the hyperdrive engines, and fasten your seat belts because it’s time to…WHIP…IT…A-ROOOOOOUUUUUUND!

Matchups

v

COMO V PARMA Two teams that have been up an down so far this year. Como started down but since they have found their scoring boots they have 7 points in their last 4 while scoring 9 goals. Cutrone has found his touch and is on a roll. The defense has been rough but at least now they can score. Parma started great but have struggled of late. Man remains the man though. I like BTTS and both Cutrone and Man for AGS. Could be a very entertaining game. As far as the result goes? DRAW

GENOA V BOLOGNA Speaking of scoring…Genoa can’t. They sold off both Gudmundsson and Retegui and now have…Pinamonti? Ooof. Not good for a team that’s conceding over 2 goals a game. Gilardino certainly has his work cut out for him. Bologna can’t score either but at least they defend. They have two 0-0 results in their last 5 league games. To say the offense is trending down is being nice. They have the weapons though and I think it’s just a matter of time ’til Italiano figures it out. Smells like a 1-0 or 2-0 win for Bologna. Then again might be a stay away. I like Castro shots if he starts for Bologna. I also lean an under and a Bologna result. I’ll say BOLOGNA WINS

MILAN V UDINESE Stay tuned for tomorrow’s game for thoughts and predictions!

JUVENTUS V LAZIO GAME OF THE WEEK! Both teams are HOT HOT HOT and sit 3 and 4 in the league. Winner remains in pole position for the top 4 through the holidays. For Lazio, Castellanos and Dia have been taking turns firing in the goals. For Juve, Vlahovic has finally found his shooting boots. On paper looks like we could see a high flying game with end to end action. In reality? Bet 0-0 at the half. Maybe even sweat out a 0-0 draw? Yeah do that. DRAW

v

EMPOLI V NAPOLI Empoli have played 3 home games this year. They have scored 0 goals. They have conceded 0 goals. Against maybe 15 other teams in the league I would just say bet the 0-0 and sleep in. Against Napoli though? It’s still tempting. They’re in first. It’s a road game. They might still be half asleep. It’s possible…but no. Napoli nips one early and this plays out 1-0 as we win on a Kvara TSOA ticket in a 1-0 game as NAPOLI WINS

LECCE V FIORENTINA Loyal readers know I have been team Lecce for several years now. Falcone has been excellent in goal, at least one tricky striker that could hurt you and CDMs that really controlled play. Well now Falcone looks real lonely back there. They welcome in a Fiorentina that’s really striking on all cylinders. Gudmundsson and Kean look like a legit strike duo. Gosens is a great leader and Dodo has been a real danger from the wing back spot. I like Gudmndsson AGS as FIORENTINA WINS!

VENEZIA V ATALANTA As predicted by just about everyone Venezia stinks. Will EDF be the first coach fired? Might wanna hedge your bets. Atalanta have a raft of injuries. Scamacca, Djimsiti, Scalvini, etc. But for them even with 20 guys injured they would be deeper and better than Venezia. Also helps that Atalanta is historically an excellent road team. Retegui continued his hot streak through the international break. If he starts he’s AGS for sure. Lookman perhaps? CDK TSOA? Might be a beatdown here folks. ATALANTA WINS

CAGLIARI TORINO Cagliari at home against a Torino team that can’t play defense and all of a sudden can’t score enough to offset it. That’s a bad combo. I like BTTS here. Probably even an over 2.5 as well. Also leaning a Cagliari result. Maybe Cagliari DC and BTTS? Let’s go with that. CAGLIARI WINS

ROMA V INTER If Roma are going to get into the top 4 discussion these draws have to become wins. Otherwise it’s the same bloated salary 6th place finish they’ve had for the last 3 years. Defense is solid, which is a good sign for a Juric team. The goals should come with the talent they have as well. Problem is Inter is the opponent on Sunday. A team they have beaten once in 15 meetings. A team that’s also struggling a bit at the back end. Screams 1-1 draw to me. I like Dybala for the home team and Thuram again for the visitors. Look at some lines. BTTS shouldn’t be bad. I really wanna lean an Inter win but I’ll say DRAW

HELLAS V MONZA Saving the best for last this week, huh Seria A? Yuck. Could be fun though. Hellas love scoring but can’t keep a clean sheet. Monza will need that help to score. As usual I like Mosquera shots for Hellas. Otherwise they tend to spread things around so any goal scorer is tough. For Monza I like Maldini to come off his first cap for TSOA. It’s also hard not to like Djuric AGS against a weak defense. I think we see something in the 2-2 or 3-2 range here. Expect goals for sure. Maybe a Monza DC, which might not be bad? I think they are better than the record has shown so far. DRAW
