Week 4 IS IN THE BOOKS! Udinese is tops! That’s right! Team Conte is second! After that we see all the usual suspects in the top 10: Inter, Juve, Milan, Atalanta and Lazio. The only regular missing is Roma, who coincidentally already fired their coach. Imagine that! Will Udinese keep rolling? Will Roma remain relegation fodder? How many days does Fonseca have left at Milan? Let’s find out!
Without further adieu it’s time to WHIP…IT…A-ROOOOOOUUUUUUND!
Matchups
v
CAGLIARI V EMPOLI Normally a relegation 6 pointer but not so fast! As usual Empoli is having trouble scoring but the defense has been stellar. Vazquez has been stellar in goal and Ismajli has been an anchor at CB. Cagliari meanwhile can’t score (1 goal in 4) and can’t really defend either. Feels like a low scoring battle. EDF knows he’s in trouble though. They have to get something soon or he’s gonna be out. Makes me wanna lean BTTS which might be a nice number here. A Cagliari win? Maybe worth a shot. Still I’m gonna call this a DRAW.
v
VERONA V TORINO Our first top 10 battle of the week! You heard me! Verona are off to a wild start. It’s feast or famine with them. Win by 2 or lose by 2, not much in between. Lazovic is creating chances and Mosquera is averaging over 2 SOT per match. Mark that one down kids. Torino are slowly settling in to resemble what they were last year. Their first 2 games were shootouts. The last 2 echo Juric’s tenure. Could be they have the ability to do either. Could be the first 2 games were a mirage. My guess here is goals. BTTS in play. Might even straight up play a 1-1 score line? Take those Mosquera shots for sure. DRAW
v
VENEZIA V GENOA Venezia stinks. Genoa do not. Is this that simple? I’m afraid it is. Messias has been ripping shots. Look at that. GENOA WINS
v
JUVENTUS V NAPOLI The Conte Derby! Another top ten battle! Juve have yet to concede. The offense is getting better every single day. Right now it’s 9 goals scored and 0 conceded in 5 games. A flying start for team Motta’s men. Conte’s troops are off to an equally good start. They are scoring more than 2 a game but the back end is still a sieve. In the past I’d say it smells like a 0-0 hand shake game. With Conte though? Hmmmm. Not sure he will accept that. I like BTTS. Probably 1-1. Maybe mix that with a Juve DC and see what you get? Kvara TSOA seems legit as well. Still because I loathe Conte I’ll say JUVE WINS
v
LECCE V PARMA Another top ten matchup…wait no. It’s not THAT crazy of a season. Lecce are on target for another narrow escape. Krstovic remains the target man and is always a threat. Falcone is solid between the sticks. Ramadani the midfield stalwart, so they have enough. Man is the MAN at Parma, though teams are starting to see that. That makes Bonny and Cancelleri decent shot options. Suzuki is solid in goal but the defense is terrible. 13 total goals in their games tells the tale here. BTTS once again looks good here. I also like a Lecce result at home. A win here for Lecce? Why not! LECCE WINS
v
FIORENTINA V LAZIO These sunday morning games are always crazy. What better than to have two teams that have combined for 25 total goals in 8 games? For Lazio, Castellanos and Dia are both red hot. Both scored last week (WHICH I CALLED BY THE WAY) and both are worth shot or AGS plays. Fiorentina is tougher to figure as they are always more balanced. Though I will say Kean may finally be the target they have been looking for since Vlahovic left. Might be tough to get good numbers without parlaying some together. BTTS and over gotta be in the cards. I also like a Fiorentina result. If they don’t get some wins soon there’s gonna be questions. I believe in Palladino though. FIORENTINA WINS
v
MONZA V BOLOGNA Monza are always tough at home. Tough to score against and tough to beat. As the offense slowly comes along they will lean on that. Both young keepers have had nice starts as well. Bologna are still trying to figure out who they are. They might not do well in CL, but using those games to sort themselves out will help. The defense has to get better. A midweek scoreless draw against Shakhtar will help their self esteem. Does that mean a win here? Probably not. Bet a 0-0 and sweat it. Take the under. Take anything that makes you feel good about a low scoring game. Don’t watch it though. Maybe go out for pancakes. 0-0 DRAW
v
ROMA V UDINESE Ultimate betting trap game. Don’t believe the Udinese hype. Trust in Juric’s debut at home. That Olimpico crowd will be going crazy. Wanna go nuts? Take Roma -1.5. I’m not a big fan of Roma at all, but I believe in Juric and I believe he will turn them around over night. If Dybala plays bet your life he scores. ROMA WINS
v
INTER V MILAN Make or break time for Fonseca. Tune in for the matchday post on Sunday for more!
v
ATALANTA V COMO Atalanta will be coming off their CL game against Arsenal. I don’t think that will bother them as they are used to busy schedules. There will be rotation so watch the lineups. I’m guessing we see CDK up top so he’s probably worth a TSOA. Como haven’t kept a clean sheet, haven’t won and honestly I am not a believer in what they are doing. Might be best for them to go down and regroup because they aren’t staying. No way they are getting a result here. Atalanta -1.5. ATALANTA WINS
Final Thoughts
Big week this week! Milan Derby! Three top ten clashes! Juric’s debut for Roma at home against top spot Udinese! Feels like the first BIG WEEK of the season!
Enjoy the Calcio!
