Weekend Whip Around: Round 30

International break? Thanks but no thanks. I did however watch Pulisic play for the USMNT. After watching him week in and week out at Milan this year I have a whole new appreciation to his game. Everything runs through him. That’s enough of that though. Without further ado it is time to once again…WHIP IT AROOOOOOOOUND!!!

7 NAPOLI V 6 ATALANTA The Napoli coaching move may have steadied the ship, but it hasn’t given them the boost they really hoped for. They are within striking distance of the top 5, but with 6 points to make up in 9 games these games are starting to become must win. The defense remains a sieve, having gone without a clean sheet in 8 straight. They also only scored more than 1 in 2 of those games. Atalanta are on a similar run of scoring and conceding, yielding a favorable BTTS in their last 4. Long story short? Go with the BTTS/over 2.5 here. Maybe even over 1 goal in the first half? There are several different ways to skin this cat where I think you can profit. In a fun restart after the break I think we see a 2-2 DRAW

12 GENOA V 18 FROSINONE Genoa are not on a great run of form having gone winless in their last 3. Granted 2 of those were away to Inter and Juve. How nice will it be to see Frosinone, the worst road team in the league with the league worst defense, come to town? Oh boy! This is lock of the week level stuff here folks. Also look for Gudmundsson (4 goals in 2 matches over the international break) to hit the back of the net. Bet the farm as GENOA WINS!

v

11 TORINO V 10 MONZA Monza come in having won 4 of 5 including their last 2 road games. The goals are up, 11 in 5, but the defense has been a little shaky. The cure for that defense? A visit to Torino where only 22 total goals have been scored in 14 games. Torino remain incredibly consistent going under 2.5 in 23 of 29 games this year. Also in only 9 of those games has BTTS occurred. Expect more of the same here. Heavily lean under 2.5. Perhaps sprinkle in a DC on the home side? Smells like a 1-1 DRAW

9 LAZIO V 3 JUVENTUS ALERT! ALERT! NEW MANAGER BOUNCE! Tudor is in the building. Lazio are home. My guess is that means we see Immobile and Zaccacgni in attack along with Alberto. Back to the tried and true. Will it be enough? No Provedel or Rovella will hurt as both are out injured. Juve come in with no Milik or Vlahovic. That means someone has to step up…but who? This feels like a stay away as too many moving pieces are in play. For my Lazio fans out there I will go with Tudor and the bounce as LAZIO WINS

4 BOLOGNA V 20 SALERNITANA Another win here for Bologna means another step closer to Champions League. A 7 point gap with 9 to play would just about do it. I think Bologna come out and smash them. You know what would also just about do something? Another loss for Salernitana sealing their doom. They are 11 points from survival with 9 to play. It’s been fun the last few years to watch them pull their Lazarus trick but this year that ends. Motta has been a little too conservative at home and this game breaks that. Look for Bologna to unleash the hounds, lead at the half and cruise. BOLOGNA WINS

v

16 CAGLIARI V 15 HELLAS VERONA Cagliari’s ride out of relegation has been built on solid home form. They have gained 19 of their 26 points at home. They’ve only lost 1 of their last 10 there. That’s a fortress for a team battling relegation. Meanwhile Hellas have been randomly solid of late. Along side Cagliari (8 pts) Hellas have the second best form (7 pts) in the bottom half. Folorunsho has been hot and the defense has done enough. This appears to be a 0-0 biscotto for 2 teams to stay up. Will we instead get goals? I think Hellas comes to play. They may not win but I think some money can be had in the BTTS or over 2.5 areas. DRAW

v

19 SASSUOLO V 14 UDINESE Besides Napoli no team has hurt me more wagering this year than Sassuolo. Like Napoli I keep thinking they will turn things around…and they don’t. They are defending better, just 2 goals conceded in 3, but without Berardi there’s no party. Losing 1-0 might feel better than 6-1 or 3-2 but it is still a loss. Udinese come in masters of the draw. Sounds like a good moment for the old DC and under 3.5 for the road team. Let’s go with that. DRAW?

13 LECCE V 6 ROMA Big game for both here. With the win last week Lecce are approaching the magical 30 point mark. It’s not always enough but it usually does the trick. The defense has rounded into form but they still can’t score without some luck. They might get that luck this week but stopping Roma will not be easy. Since DDR has taken off the reigns they have been scoring at a solid clip from multiple sources. They will be missing Pellegrini through card accumulation this week but they should have enough. I suspect something like a 1-0 or 2-0. Could be a spot where we see a 0-0 halftime if that’s your flavor. Roma are opening up a gap between them and the chasing pack. A win here would be massive. ROMA WINS

v

1 INTER V 17 EMPOLI Inter are officially in no man’s land. Hard to say how they approach so this is a bit of a wait and see. Empoli needs this but they probably would normally get smoked by Inter’s second team. Not much to say here besides INTER WINS
