Weekend Whip Around: Round 22

Not a discount slate this week! More games to watch, more games to wager? Hmmm…

Matchups

v

CAGLIARI V TORINO Big game here for both teams. Cagliari sit in 17th, just a scrape above the relegation spots. The teams behind them aren’t exactly tearing things up but they have to get some results at some point. They have been better at home. Torino as usual sit dead center in the table. This year though they are closer to European spots than relegation. The defense is always solid. The offense isn’t. That never seems to change. Expect a lack of goals. Expect the under. Torino DNB? Lots of angles here. Perhaps a scoreless DRAW?

v

ATALANTA V UDINESE Atalanta are on a roll, especially at home where they have become dominant. They look once again like their former selves… dominating the ball and scoring in bunches. Koopmeiners is HOT. Top 4 is within reach. Udinese are more entertaining under Cioffi but the results aren’t coming. They are finally scoring but are also conceding in buckets. A highlight is Samardzic is in his best form of the year. Will he finally be sold? Atalanta continues to roll. CDK and/or Koop TSOA perhaps? Bet the over. Bet the ML. ATALANTA WINS

v

JUVENTUS V EMPOLI Juve don’t lose at home. Empoli have a new coach but it won’t matter this week. Consider whoever starts at striker for Juve to score. Take the Juve ML. Mix that with an over. As I’ve said before they need wins and goals if they are to catch Inter. Could be ugly as JUVE WINS

MILAN V BOLOGNA Check out tomorrow’s preview for some tasty tips!

v

GENOA V LECCE Genoa are solid at home. Gudmundsson continues to be on a roll. Another win or two and Genoa are home free to stay up. Lecce are struggling mightily. They still play great D but they just can’t score. They have just 1 goal in 5 and that was at home in a draw to Cagliari. Fade them and ride the Genoa home form. Also keep in mind Lecce games are almost always low scoring. GENOA WINS

v

HELLAS V FROSINONE A couple of bad teams here. Only thing really of note is that no matter how bad Hellas get they usually find a way at home. Though with all their window activity and guys at AFCON who knows what their lineup will look like. Frosinone probably saved EDF’s job last week but I think he’s still fine. This is a chance to secure some important road points. They are horrendous on the road though. Bad team that usually performs at home against bad team that is bad on the road. Could be 0-0 and could be 3-3. Hmmm. Probably a stay away. Too random. I’ll say DRAW

MONZA V SASSUOLO Speaking of totally random unknowns playing each other. Monza have been a mess of late. Can’t score and really can’t defend. They’ve conceded 10 goals in the last 3 games and 5 those came against Frosinone and Empoli. Not good. Sassuolo have also been a mess of late but they just got done playing MIL, ATA, FIO and JUV all in a row. News has come out that Berardi will be having knee surgery and is done for the year. Sitting at 19 points they either circle the wagons or they slide further towards relegation. This feels ugly but hard to predict. Like the last game I would probably stay away. DRAW

v

LAZIO V NAPOLI Lazio are the latest team to race up the table to push for 4th. That will have hit a road block with their SuperCoppa duties last weekend. Not so much because of the result but because of the mileage. The last thing a team with a thin bench needed was an extra fixture. That would have had me ever so slightly leaning towards the rambling wreck of Napoli… if they didn’t have SuperCoppa duty as well. They have just 2 goals in their last 5 and go to Lazio where goals always come at a premium. Investigate some unders. Maybe Lazio DNB? A win for either is massive as would be a loss. I’m leaning Lazio but I’ll say DRAW

v

FIORENTINA V INTER Gonna keep this short. Fiorentina are in 4th and the team sitting 4th hasn’t won their following fixture since November. That curse continues against the best team in the league. Inter buries them. Inter -1.5 maybe? INTER WINS

Matchup Rating:
Rated 3 out of 5

v

SALERNITANA V ROMA Salernitana are bad but frisky at home. They score there so they can’t always be counted out. Roma bounced back nicely under new coach De Rossi. Granted they were at home, totally healthy and playing against probably the worst team in the league, Hellas. The worry was they started well but by the end they were on fumes. Hellas were on the front foot most of the second half. Probably had a lot to do with being at home and heavy pressure. I think on the road they are more relaxed. They are still missing a lot but should have enough here. Lukaku to score? SES for the TSOA maybe? He looked great last week and I think De Rossi wants to play through him. Salernitana nicks one but ROMA WINS
