Matchday 20: Fiorentina v Milan

Milan need to bounce back after dropping points midweek to another minnow. Just as importantly, Inter and Napoli face off today so if Milan can win it’ll either help them keep pace with Inter and separate from Napoli some OR move to the top of the table with a win and an Inter loss. Time to take care of business in a not so friendly place to play for Milan…

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

I’m not going to say a lot here since I vetted pretty good in the last post match, so go there to see how I really feel right now (spoiler: it’s not great!). What I will say is that Milan need to find a way to bring back home all 3 points.

Fiorentina, if the lineup and formation are to be believed, might be coming out aggressively in a 4-1-2-3 shape and this might actually play well into Allegri’s conservative approach and make Milan sit back. With Fiorentina winning 7 of their 13 points in the last 4 games, this is about as well as they’ve played all season so Milan needs to expect the best version of them all season, and this is on top of them always showing up to play Milan at home. Still, this isn’t a good team and Milan needs to show that on the pitch.

For Milan, same shape unfortunately but major rotation because of the busy stretch. Fofana is again MIA after the bad miss last game, Ricci and Estupiñan are both in as is De Winter for a suspended Tomori. The two guys I’m most excited about seeing is Jashari starting for Modrić and Füllkrug up top for Leão and paired with Pulisic. What these two guys bring will be very different from who they’re replacing.

PREDICTION TIME:

I don’t know. I’m so pessimistic on Allegri right now. Ugh…

Forza Milan
