WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
Milan needed another come from behind victory to end the 3 game losing streak last week, something the also needed to do the last time they faced Como back in January. Cesc Fabergas had a solid gameplan that stifled Milan the whole first half and it took everything Milan had to return home with all 3 points.
The squad and lineup has been rumored to be in a 4-1-4-1, which is unusual. As long and Leão isn’t crowded on the left side then I’m content with most formations but the 4-2-3-1 is still the best in my eyes for the type of squad composition Milan has right now. The last time Como sat back some and then attacked and pressed Milan when they reached the midfield, so I’ll be curious if they try that again. They generally play open football so Milan should be able to get out and run.
The keys for Milan are the same as they always are but we actually saw it last game in the second half. Leão stayed wide and was absolutely deadly. With a good lineup, Milan needs the right guys getting into positions to take advantage of it, but Conceição is running a similar combination of Bondo, Musah, and Reijnders. Aside from Bondo, I didn’t think Musah and Reijnders worked well last time so that’s something I’m going to watch for in this game. I’d also like to see Giménez put in a shift and really work the CBs. He’s been a solid finisher but little else.
For Como, Diao has been on a tear since arriving, including scoring against Milan back in January for his first goal with Como. He’s a big strong kid so the CBs need to aware and stay close. Paz is also a solid player and is rumored to heading to Inter after the season. We’ll see if he ends up going to the snakes but Milan will need to watch him today, as he’s generally the playmaker of the team.
PREDICTION TIME:
Has to be a win. I think it will be especially with the second straight full week to practice and prepare. Game should be pretty open as well. Something like 3-1 sounds about right.
