I usually I can care less about the Coppa Italia and this year I care even less than that. I wish Milan and Conceição would put this out to pasture as this does nothing for their hopes in the league or Champions League. This competition should only be comprised of teams our of Europe. Like a Serie A loser’s bracket. Ugh…

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
Ok, maybe this game could have some value. Maybe the new guys can get a run of minutes in the San Siro, help them get acclimated. But I honestly can’t think of another reason Milan should even remotely take this seriously. Like I hated when Fonseca played a strong lineup vs Sassuolo’s…of Serie B…B team. Then he made it worse by substituting on the starters he did rest when Milan was up at 3-4 goals. Dumb.
As for these two teams, the last time they played was the last game of 2024, which also happened to be Fonseca’s last game at the helm. A game he got sent off in and didn’t see through. That game ended 1-1 with a couple of early goals, Reijnders in the 16th minute and Dybala in the 23rd minute. As I said at the time, I actually thought Milan and Fonseca did well this game considering they were missing a lot of players, including Leão, Pulisic, Musah, Okafor, and RLC. Still, the damage had been done.
When they played last time Roma was starting to hit some solid form after a dreadful start and multiple coaches, but they come into this not quite riding as high as then. The only Roma player to really care about is Dybala, as he seems to only score worldlies against Milan (see last game), and Mancini, as he likes to chop down, well, really anyone. But he’s out of the lineup today.
For Milan, I’m happy they’re resting Leão but again, I’d be happy if the Futuro was out there. Ideally all the main starters, the guys who rarely get to rest, get substituted off early in the second half. No need to add more mileage on those tires. Ideally maybe a few of the new guys get a short run out to stretch their legs.
Predictions
Don’t care. I don’t root for my team to lose but I will sleep soundly if Milan don’t have a Coppa match after today.
Michael Lisi says: Against my better judgement I think we win. Feel like there has to be a TAmmy goal and an SES goal. Former players revenge game for sure.
For the love of god, STAY HEALTHY.
Forza Milan
