WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

Milan is flying high after a well-deserved win vs Inter last weekend. Usually I’d be worried about a hangover in this game but to be honest, I don’t think we’re going to see one.

Now, I think Fonseca needs to be careful about running out there and trying to do the same thing as last week. Lecce isn’t Inter. Lecce may sit back like Inter but they’re likely not going to try and overload the midfield and then sting you on the counter. They don’t have the same players even if they tried. Hopefully this means Fonseca takes the game to them and puts it away early.

I know I’m curious to see if Fonseca moves to a more permanent 4-4-2 formation or if he really is going to fluctuate between that and the 4-2-3-1 depending on opponent, and really, lineup selection. For this game, Fonseca is running out with the same lineup as last game and appears to be following Lisi’s montra…START THE STARTERS…and put it away early. Don’t chase points at the end of the game.

Fonseca’s big task here is to start to figure out how to weave Leão into the game because, as expected, Leão didn’t exactly thrive in this formation last week. There were things Fonseca did to get the most out of the players, including Leão, but Fonseca is going to have to devise an extra-fluid version to get the most out of both his wingers, not just Leão. Let’s hope we see that today.

As for Lecce, the have Lisi’s boy Falcone at goal and he seems to always have solid games vs Milan. Additionally, the ex-Milan player curse is alive and well with Rebic starting at LW. I don’t know that we’ll see reckless-challenge Rebic against us but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s extra motivated to sting us with a goal.

As for predictions…

Lisi says: Leão!!! Get a goal, man! Tammy too. 3-0 Milan. Let’s come out fast and bury this.

God, do I even want to? I’ve been terrible with predictions so far this season…ok, if I have to throw something out then I’m going to go with a 2-0 win.

Forza Milan
