WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
I waited to see the lineup before writing this up. Not going to say much but Fonseca appears to be nearing what I think is the optimal lineup. This is now his 4th different starting lineup in 4 games so he needs to settle on something soon.
The biggest change today is Gabbia in for Tomori. I guess I’m not too surprised since Tomori, who hasn’t been bad per se, also hasn’t been elite either. What is also interesting is while the lineup has been posted, it’s not entirely clear if RLC will be the CAM or back in the double pivot. FotMob has changed it a few times but it looks like maybe Fonseca is trying Reijnders as the CAM??? Please, god. Let this be true! Getting RLC out of the CAM would work wonders. Plus, getting well timed runs from the double pivot into the box could be something RLC actually contributes since that’s one of his strengths. Lord knows he’s due since he’s done jack sh*t so far this season.
I’m also excited to see what Abraham can do from the get-go. He obviously had a big impact in his debut and I’d like to see him be that target man and work with Leão and Theo like we saw vs Roma. I was happy to see him arrive and think he can make a difference.
As for predictions…
Lisi says: That lineup just gave me a giant boner. 3-0 Milan. Reijnders shots and TSOA.
I can neither confirm nor deny if the adjective giant was warranted in Lisi’s comment. ANYWAY…I think Milan gets their first win BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO. Jesus.
Forza Milan
