SPAIN v GERMANY The first great showdown of the tournament. Spain come in red hot after sweeping their way through the group and then smashing Georgia. They are loaded with options up top with Yamal, Olmo, Williams and Morata with Rodri pulling the strings. 9 goals scored with just 1 conceded, an own goal against Georgia. As usual the back line isn’t great so once again their greatest defense will be possession and pressing high. Germany are not much different in attack. In their case Kroos and Gundogan pull the strings for Haevertz, Sane and Musiala. Don’t forget Fulkrug the super sub. Neither back line is fantastic but the edge goes to Germany. Rudiger is a beast and he knows these guys. Neuer is no spring chicken but he’s no fool either. Those two give Germany the edge here. They hold Spain down. Maybe not to zero but no more than one. It’s cagey but I’m sticking with Germany. I took their future 3 months ago and I’m not moving. Musiala gets one before half. Fulkrug gets the clincher.
PREDICTION: Germany is too much. I love what Spain has brought to the dance but it’s not their time yet. I’ll go out on a limb and say 2-0 Germany.

PORTUGAL v FRANCE The Ronaldo clown show continues. By playing through him constantly Portugal really are playing with 9 men. Ronaldo does noting and whoever has the ball only looks to get it to him. It’s a joke that’s gotten old. They won a Euro without him. They could win this one without him. Except they can’t. France are loaded…EVERYWHERE. Thing is right now it’s the defense that’s holding it down. Maignan has been superb. The midfield trio of Kante, Rabiot and Tchouameni has been near perfect. The attack has been messy BUT every game they get closer to figuring it out. That’s the scary part.
PREDICTION: Both teams have been playing low scoring low intensity games throughout. That continues here. Take the under. I’ll say 1-0 France through Griezzman.

ENGLAND v SWITZERLAND England are gonna sit. Switzerland are gonna take a swing early. They have 5 first half goals at the Euros so far. England are gonna sit. After the early swing the Swiss will keep pressing until half. England are gonna sit. After the half the Swiss will take another big swing. England are gonna sit. The Swiss will finally sit. England are gonna sit. Suggestion? Mow the yard. Do laundry. Waterproof the deck. Maybe stain that fence you haven’t stained since Covid? Just make sure you turn on alerts for this game. If nothing happens sit on the couch at about minute 80. You can thank me later.
PREDICTION: England survives for no reason other to make it that more soul crushing when they lose later. Betting tip? Take our old friend Riccardo Rodriguez to take a shot in the first half. It will make you money.

NETHERLANDS v TURKEY When the Dutch are good they are GOOD…and when they stink they fucking stink. Same with Turkey. Not only historically but in this tourney. Both teams are loaded with guys looking to buck that trend. Dumfries has been great for the Netherlands, especially the last 2 games. Reijnders and Schouten have been world class in the midfield. Shows what we have in Reijnders, especially if we find the right partner. Akpo is a monster on the wing. Malen a super sub. Memphis…is Memphis. Turkey? Yilmaz, Guler and Yildiz are on fire…and they are just 24, 19 and 19. DAMN. Other than that is Hakan and some dudes. That was fine against Austria. And the Czechs. And Georgia. Luck runs out here though.
PREDICTION: Turkey hold their own. They probably even score. The Dutch are too much though. On talent alone the Dutch are good but if selfless Memphis keeps showing up they are a very big problem. Their class is just too much and the Turkish backline can’t keep them out. I’d go Netherlands ML and BTTS here. Gakpo TSOA. They roll.

Four more bangers in what has been a really good tourney so far. Honestly can’t wait. Gonna be a really fun couple days of games.
