The most exciting league on the planet continues. Once again it’s time to WHIP IT AROUND!!!!!!
Matchups
v
SASSUOLO V SALERNITANA These 2 have combined for exactly 0 wins in their last 10 games and just 3 wins in 22 combined this year. One is bad the other is just a complete train wreck. Salernitana are so bad that you gotta wonder if our old friend Pippo, hired just a few games ago, will even make it til Christmas. Ochoa has some of the best performances in the league but unfortunately they usually come in 2-0 losses. Sassuolo are jekyll and hyde but can they really mess this up? At home? Come on. Goals aplenty for them. Berardi probably gets one. SASSUOLO WINS
v
GENOA V HELLAS These clubs last met 18 months ago when Genoa were busy self imploding while Hellas was surviving yet again. The scorer of the match winner that day? Giovanni Simeone. A lot has changed since then. Caprari and Simeone are gone and Hellas is struggling more than ever to score. They ARE still lingering though. Genoa has changed out almost everyone. Gilardino has brought some spark to the lineup. Gudmondsson leads the line and has scored in 5 of 7 games. Pretty soon he will need a nickname. Ride that hot streak. Take him to score or assist as GENOA WINS
v
LECCE V MILAN Guess who has the shortest rest of all the teams that played in Europe this week? WE DO! Guess who also had the toughest matchup in a must win game? WE DID! Guess who’s gonna probably go out and struggle on weary legs on the road against a stout defensive team with a good keeper? WE WILL! DRAW
v
JUVE V CAGLIARI Juve at home against a crap team. No midweek game. Everyone rested and ready to go. Cagliari have been playing better but it won’t matter here. I’ll say Juve 2-0. Bet that score. Bet the clean sheet. Don’t think too much here. JUVE WINS
v
MONZA V TORINO Monza continue to Monza and Colpani continues to score. He may have a partner in crime now as Colombo emerges. That will make them more dangerous. They are at home where they have conceded just 2 goals all year and have yet to lose. Torino come in playing surprisingly well. The injury to Schuurs in the back looked like a real blow but they have now won their last 2 league games. They’ve had to open things up and it’s been a boon for them. Both Sanabria and Vlasic scored last weekend. Those guys have to get rolling if they are gonna have a good run. This is a tough one to call as I like both. If anything I would consider the under but I also feel like it could be pretty open? Hmmm. Stay away with your money but I’ll say MONZA WINS
v
NAPOLI V EMPOLI Should be easy stuff here. There’s no reason to bet against Napoli unless you think the players hate Rudy enough to lose this game on purpose. They don’t and they won’t. Kvara scores. NAPOLI WINS.
v
FIORENTINA V BOLOGNA A few weeks ago I would say this would be a goal fest. Something like a 2-2 draw. Now though? Fiorentina have lost 3 straight league games and have scored exactly ZERO goals in those games. They’ve looked like crap while being distracted by Conference league. Even there they looked like the walking dead. Meanwhile Bologna are playing fantastic. They currently sit 6th and haven’t lost since round 1. The defense has been solid giving up less than a goal a game. The offense started slow but they’ve had the toughest schedule so far. With 6 goals in the last 4 it is coming around. Right now the Bologna win or draw is sitting at a nice number. Take that to cover yourself but I think Motta’s men make a statement here. Orsolini scores and BOLOGNA WINS
v
UDINESE V ATALANTA Udinese got a new coach and finally won. They look much better and have the coach they probably should have had all along in Cioffi. Not saying all is good but this is a team that’s only lost 3 times in 11 games. They don’t stink. They just couldn’t score. See what that new manager boost can do? As usual Serie A is the top 4 and then the rest. Finishing 5th is almost like winning it’s own trophy. Right now Atalanta lead that race but I’m not sure they are really better than the teams just below them. They have had a relatively easy schedule and every good team they have played they either lost to ( Inter, Lazio, Fiorentina, Frosinone) or drew (Juve). They are feasting on the low end teams. What does that mean for this one? Hmmm. Udinese aren’t as bad as they appear. Atalanta aren’t nearly as good as they appear. Remember when CDK seemed revived? LOL. Consider the Udinese Win or Draw. I’ll go DRAW
v
LAZIO V ROMA GAME OF THE WEEK! It doesn’t get much better than this. The Rome Derby is always wild but this will be extra special. The managers hate each other. Can you bet on managers getting a red? The teams don’t like each other and both have walking time bombs. Have you met this Mancini fellow? Lukaku is going up against one of his favorite former punching bags in Romagnoli. Goal for Lukaku? Card for Romagnoli? Both very appealing. Lazio has won the last 2 and Sarri is acting like this is just another game. Mourinho sucks against good teams. In his last 14 against the top teams in Serie A the last 2 seasons he has 2 wins, 3 draws and 9 losses. I think that continues. Immobile stands tall. Pedro ALWAYS shows up for this game. Both score though Lukau does too and it’s 2-1 as LAZIO WINS.
v
INTER V FROSINONE Inter is going to win the league. Bet it. It’s a slam dunk. Maybe Lautaro as top scorer too. This is the kind of win they must have and will get in order to assure that. I do think EDF’s men get on the board but it won’t matter. It’s a 4-1 or 5-1 beat down as INTER WINS
Final Thoughts
Solid round of fixtures before the break. Lots of chances for teams near the top to get 3 points and of course the big one Sunday afternoon with the Rome Derby.
Enjoy the Calcio!
