WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
– Last year Milan had figured out Inter during the season. Pioli took a DM, Kessie in that case, had him play AM and then had them sit on Brozovic. That neutralized Inter counters AND also helped the press stay high and keep Inter pinned in. A simple tweak but it gave Inter fits. This tactic was copied by others and gave Inter issues the tail end of last year. Ironically right now Kessie is languishing at Barcelona, Brozovic is out hurt and both are rumored to be swapped for one another.
-In another bit of irony that spot has now gone to Hakan who is much more distributor than ball winner. Basically the anti-Brozovic. Will the same tactic still apply? Will Pioli employ it?
-Will we see Kjaer tomorrow? As everyone knows we are quite small in the back. The big Dane could certainly help if he is fit enough.
– Expect Inter to employ Darmian to once again play stopper. He performed that role perfectly when Napoli came calling as he was able to completely neutralize Kvaratskhelia. I would expect a similar maneuver against Leao.
-I’m very interested to see how Giroud matches up against Acerbi. He owned Acerbi while he was at Lazio but Acerbi appears to have found new life at Inter.
-Another interesting matchup will be DiMarco against what will probably be Saelemaekers and Calabria on our right. DiMarco never saw a cross he didn’t want to put in. Choking off that service will be important.
